It's more than possible that a few nice people used to be pessimistic.
Nice people have learned the hard way that disadvantages are opportunities for growth. The brokenhearted never want to inflict emotional paper cuts on anyone else. Why does this happen? Well, people who have had their hearts shredded know what it's like to tape the torn pieces back together. People will probably treat you better if they've been hurt by a former lover. Nice people love the hardest because they've been hurt the most. But you used that poor excuse of a wax pastel to live a colorful life anyway. When everyone else was gifted a 200-count Crayola box set, you might have gotten a broken Rose Art crayon. They've kicked off their crutches and somehow done the impossible: They've taught themselves to run and catch up to everyone else in a world that does not wait for anyone. They’ve been thrust into harmful situations and gripped by destructive circumstances, like toxic family members or poverty.Īnd they have learned not only to succeed. Nice people have often been dealt a significant amount of bad luck. In the world of darkness into which they were born, nice people use positivity as a lantern to create more light. Nice people bring light into the world because they come from dark pasts. In other words, nice people weren't born nice - they made themselves that way. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Swiss psychiatrist and author, Elisbeth Kübler-Ross, once eloquently stated: The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. Yet whatever circumstance life throws your way, you get to decide if you're going to be a victim or a survivor. You have complete control over whether life makes you sweet or sour.Īnd those who choose to be sweet – the survivors – are strongest. Genetics, location and financial status - it's all one big luck of the draw. Ultimately, what we're given is all random.
Either way, we all have to deal with what we've been given. Some struggle with calculus others are dealt basic math. And for reasons we don't know, everyone gets a different test. And the essence of that punishment was the outpouring of God's wrath against sinners.Life tests people every day. To Him was imputed the guilt of all of our sins and He was suffering the necessary punishment for those sins on our behalf. I believe that as Christ hung there at this moment, He was bearing the sins of the world. To begin with, it was a fulfillment of the prophetic words of Psalm 22:1, which says, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" But these were not the delusions of a man in pain.
It is hard for us as human beings to even fathom what was taking place here. They disarm us and cause us to wonder what He meant. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ' Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?' that is, 'My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?' " (verses 45-46).
I believe it is found in Matthew 27: "Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. But as bad as that was, I don't think that was His most painful moment. Was the crucifixion itself, where spikes were pounded into His hands and His feet, where He had to press His shredded back against the cross for a gulp of air? That was horrific as well. But as bad as that was, I don't think it was God's most painful moment. It is one of the most horrific things that a person could go through. Was that it? That was a painful moment to say the least - extremely painful.

We think of the Roman whip, that cat of nine tails that ripped into His skin and skeletal tissues, exposing vital organs. Immediately our minds race to the crucifixion. I would like for us to consider what I believe was God's most painful moment, the most painful moment for our Lord when He was on this earth.
